Lion Walks

Lion WalksWould you ever have thought it possible to stroll through the African bush with a free-roaming lion at your side? At Antelope Park this can become reality as you take lions out ‘for a walk’ No collars, no leashes, no fences - you truly will be walking with the King of Beasts.

A walk will last around one and half hours and the lion cubs accompanying you on this incredible journey range in age from 6 to 18 months. You might even be lucky enough to witness them practicing their stalking and hunting skills or maybe even making a kill

You won’t want to miss out on this once-in-a lifetime opportunity as you roam free with the lions, interact with them and get closer than you ever thought possible, all under the supervision of our experienced guides and handlers.

Lion CubsBut your Lion Walk is much more than you think. It‘s not just a very privileged photo opportunity, it‘s the chance for you to become a conservationist.

ALERT Educational ToursWe are privileged to be home of the African Lion and Environmental Research Trust (ALERT) one of the world’s leading conservation programmes to help save the African lion from extinction and we would love to share with you the positive steps and successes of this Trust.

An insightful 45-minute tour of the lion breeding centre is a great way for any guest to gain a better understanding of what we are trying to achieve with these majestic creatures.

Lion Feeding

Lion FeedingThe magnificent roars, fixated eyes and licking of lips are just metres away from you! Watch as the lions prepare to run towards their feed; the ground vibrates in the rush. Swaying golden manes, several pouncing lions and the blood of the pray is right before your eyes in this dusty, energetic and most awesome scene never to forget.

This is a vital part of our research towards the lion’s characters and dominance. It also aids the lions’ survival skills for their eventual release back into the wild.

Elephant Rides and Training

Elephant RidesClimb on board nature’s four-wheel drive and let these mighty beasts take your African adventure to majestic new heights! Experience the thrill of a lifetime as you ride one of our African elephants. There really is no way to describe it, you just have to try it!

Our elephant safaris give you a stunning bird’s eye view of the Park. See just how many of the different game species you can spot from your regal vantage point!

During full moon we also offer lunar rides: a truly exciting opportunity to be on these majestic creatures in the wilderness of Antelope Park. Observe an abundance of game under the starry African sky and bright full moon.

Elephant training sessions are also an opportunity to interact with, teach and stimulate these magnificent animals up close and personal.

Night Encounter

Night EncounterIt is often said that only ten in every million people will ever see a lion kill - well if you want to raise your odds we recommend a trip to Antelope Park where you can take part in our world- exclusive Night Encounter!

From the comfort and safety of one of our open-top safari vehicles you’ll get to live on the wild side as we take our older lions out into the park to practice their stalking and hunting skills.This is an essential part of the Rehabilitation and Release Programme and you’ll get a front row seat at one of the most gripping scenes in the animal kingdom - the King of Beasts hunting, stalking and maybe even making a kill!

Explore the Bush

Explore the BushOff the beaten track, take a guided foot safari or horse trail and learn all about Antelope Park and its game from our friendly and knowledgeable guides. With its remarkable and abundant birdlife and over 20 species of mammal to be found in the Park’s beautiful surroundings you will realise why our guests return year after year.

For those who prefer a more leisurely pace, with an old fashioned twist, choose the magnificent horse drawn carriage. Perhaps you wish to take your safari to new heights and experience the majesty of being up top one of the largest mammals in the world. Our elephant safaris give you a view like no other – and an up close and personal experience to treasure! Game drives in off-road vehicle’s are another favourite with trained guides accompany all game viewing excursions, day and night.

Fishing

Get hooked , and reel in your dinner! Your catch of the day could include some of the excellent bass, bream and catfish to be found both in the in the river. Bring your own equipment or hire boats, canoes, rods and tackle from reception.

Canoeing, Boating and Sundowner Cruises

Canoeing and BoatingShoot the breeze ... canoe and boat hire is available, together with lifejackets for the whole family. What better way to view birdlife and stunning African sunsets whilst relaxing with your favourite people. Hop onboard a canoe, feel the exhilaration as you glide across the early morning misty waters as you explore the river. Take the Sundowner cruise in the evening and find out just why Africa is famous for her fiery sunsets.

Horse Rides and Lessons

Horse RidingUltimate intimacy between Man and beast … ride off into the sunrise, sunset or even experience the African night at full moon. The Lunar horse rides offer a different perspective of the African bush. Our experienced horsemen also offer lessons for every age and level, as well as pony rides for children. There couldn’t be a more inspiring setting. Cantering through the glow of amber savannah grass gives you a feeling and rush like no other.

Fancy unwinding? Then take a seat on our horse drawn carriage and ride into the wilderness viewing our abundant game as you unwind in and absorb the beautiful surroundings.
